Shay Riley-Lewis

Shay is a qualified lawyer, environmental scientist and planner with over twenty two years experience in planning assessment and approvals before being admitted as a lawyer in 2021.
Shay predominately practices in the areas of planning and environment law. As a planner, Shay consulted to a range of private and public clients on a diverse range of large complex residential, industrial and infrastructure projects. Shay has an in-depth understanding of the processes and implications of a wide range of planning and environmental approvals from both the private and government perspective, including designing a planning approval system for the Dubai government, and auditing and advising the Saudi Arabian government on their environmental approvals processes.
Shay’s legal practice includes advising private and government clients on planning pathways, environmental compliance, building and construction disputes, orders pursuant to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Local Government Act and Protection of the Environment Operations Act, unlawful building works and compulsory acquisition.
Shay has been involved in a number of Class 1 and 3 proceedings in the Land and Environment Court.
